As a Battery Test Engineer on the Amazon Leo team, you will own battery pack and PCBA level testing from initial requirements through final reporting. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate product requirements into test objectives, develop procedures, and build or configure test setups. Your daily work involves designing fixtures, performing electrical, functional, and environmental testing, and conducting root cause investigations for hardware failures. To succeed, you must be proficient in using power supplies, electronic loads, battery cyclers, DAQs, oscilloscopes, and DMMs. You will also utilize Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis. This role focuses on ensuring battery hardware meets performance and reliability requirements for a low Earth orbit satellite network, specifically addressing the technical challenges of power systems in space environments.
Translate product requirements into specific test objectives, procedures, and measurable pass/fail criteria.
Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans for battery packs, PCBAs, and management electronics.
Design, build, and configure test setups using power supplies, cyclers, oscilloscopes, and environmental chambers.
Execute electrical, functional, performance, and reliability testing at the battery pack and PCBA levels.
Troubleshoot hardware issues and perform root cause investigations when failures occur during testing.
Analyze test data using engineering tools to identify trends, anomalies, and potential failure mechanisms.
Document test results, deviations, and findings with high data traceability for final reporting.
Improve test methods, automation, and laboratory processes to increase overall quality and efficiency.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
3+ years of experience in hardware test, validation, electrical test, battery testing, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems.
Experience with electrical laboratory equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMMs, DAQs, battery cyclers, or similar instrumentation.
Experience analyzing engineering test data and communicating technical conclusions.
Experience troubleshooting electrical hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, or automated test systems.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
