The Autonomous Vehicle Safety Assurance Technical Program Manager joins the Safety Assurance for Effective Autonomous Driving Software department to lead integrated execution across the SAFE-ADS operating plan. This staff individual contributor manages technically complex workstreams including safety risk management, human factors, software validation, and rules-of-the-road compliance. You will translate product requirements into actionable roadmaps, manage technical dependencies, and drive decisions across engineering, legal, and product organizations. Key responsibilities include maintaining traceability for requirements and metrics while improving workflows in Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and SharePoint. You will also utilize tools like IBM DOORS Next Generation or Jama Connect. The role solves critical safety-critical software assurance problems by coordinating interfaces between functional safety, SOTIF, ADAS, and vehicle-integration teams to ensure the safe development and deployment of automated driving systems.
Own the integrated execution model for SAFE-ADS initiatives, including objectives, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
Translate product requirements and operating-plan commitments into actionable workstream charters and delivery roadmaps.
Establish governance structures, including status reporting, action tracking, decision logs, and escalation paths.
Drive risk mitigation and recovery plans by providing decision-ready recommendations for technical and schedule issues.
Lead cross-functional execution for aggregate safety metrics, including metric definitions, data quality, and benchmarking.
Coordinate interfaces between functional safety, software validation, simulation, data engineering, and vehicle-integration teams.
Maintain end-to-end traceability across requirements, test results, metrics, and evidence using specialized tools like Jira and DOORS.
Improve workflows, dashboards, and data quality across requirements management and program management systems.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering, robotics, safety engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
7+ years of relevant experience leading complex technical programs in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, software-intensive systems, systems engineering, product safety, or safety assurance.
At least 3 years of experience in technical program management, engineering program management, software delivery, systems engineering leadership, or an equivalent role.
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams, stakeholders, dependencies, and enterprise-level visibility.
Strong program management capabilities including integrated planning, roadmap management, dependency tracking, risk management, governance, change control, and executive communication.
Experience with software development lifecycles, validation, test and verification activities, release planning, CI/CD, and production-readiness practices.
Hands-on experience with Jira and familiarity with Jira Align, Confluence, SharePoint, Smartsheet, or comparable program-management tools.
Experience using or administering requirements and traceability tools such as IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG) or Jama Connect.
