TL;DR · Autonomous Vehicle Safety Case Technical Program Manager

The Autonomous Vehicle Safety Case Technical Program Manager joins the Safety Assurance for Effective Autonomous Driving Software department within the Global Product Safety, System, and Certification organization. This senior/staff individual contributor leads the integrated execution of complex, cross-functional safety cases for automated driving systems. Key responsibilities include building integrated program plans, establishing governance forums, and translating safety strategies into actionable workstream charters. The role requires coordinating technical inputs from AI/ML, autonomy, systems engineering, functional safety, SOTIF, cybersecurity, software validation, simulation, and human factors. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in requirements traceability, hazard management, and evidence-based safety programs. The position solves the critical business problem of enabling the safe, measurable, and scalable deployment of autonomous driving technology by ensuring all safety claims align with engineering, validation, and operational milestones.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain integrated program plans covering safety case workstreams, milestones, dependencies, and resource needs.
  • Establish operating rhythms, governance forums, status reporting, and escalation paths for cross-functional execution.
  • Translate safety strategies and program objectives into clear workstream charters and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of ADS safety cases across product-launch contexts.
  • Maintain traceability between safety strategies, claims, requirements, evidence, and assessments.
  • Coordinate technical inputs from AI/ML, systems engineering, functional safety, cybersecurity, and simulation teams.
  • Track evidence readiness, assessment status, and substantiation gaps to ensure all requirements are closed.
  • Improve processes, tools, and information flows used to manage the safety assurance lifecycle.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering, robotics, safety engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex technical programs in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, software-intensive systems, systems engineering, product safety, or safety assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and enterprise-level visibility.
  • Strong program management capabilities including integrated planning, milestone management, dependency tracking, risk management, governance, and executive communication.
  • Experience translating ambiguous technical or safety objectives into structured execution plans, measurable outcomes, and clear ownership.
  • Experience developing, supporting, assessing, or managing safety cases, assurance cases, safety arguments, or equivalent evidence-based safety programs.
  • Working knowledge of safety assurance concepts including requirements traceability, evidence management, hazard or risk management, change control, and assessment processes.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, systems engineering, safety management, mathematics, or a related field (preferred).
