As an Automation Engineer IV, you will serve as the lead technical expert for Automation Applications, Process Control, and Manufacturing Execution Systems within the Bioresearch Center. You will ensure system availability, develop strategic roadmaps, provide technical guidance to stakeholders, and manage projects involving infrastructure improvements. Your daily work involves building a stable digital foundation through dashboard development, data integration across critical platforms, and the rollout of Industry 4.0 initiatives. The role requires proficiency in Distributed Control Systems like Foxboro I/A, Rockwell PlantPAx, and Emerson DeltaV, as well as experience with OSISoft PI historians and Manufacturing Execution Systems such as POMSnet or Werum PAS-X. You will utilize programming languages including VB and C#, while managing SCADA systems and PLCs. The role addresses the technical challenge of maintaining compliant, high-performing manufacturing environments through advanced automation technologies.
Act as the lead technical expert for Automation Applications, Process Control, and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
Maintain system availability and develop performance metrics to ensure service objectives are met.
Develop strategic roadmaps for Automation Applications and Process Control systems in coordination with business management.
Create dashboards to visualize data and integrate information across critical platforms for business intelligence.
Execute Industry 4.0 initiatives and provide technical training to onsite users and engineers.
Ensure all systems comply with regulatory mandates and internal company policies.
Provide on-call technical support for automation technologies and applications as part of a regular rotation.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required.
Working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems such as Foxboro I/A, Rockwell PlantPAx, or Emerson DeltaV required.
Experience administering data historian systems (e.g., OSISoft PI) including commissioning, qualification, and computerized systems validation required.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems like POMSnet, Emerson Syncade, or Werum PAS-X required.
Experience coding in VB, C#, or other standard programming languages required.
Experience with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), ladder logic, HMI development, and Windows Server OS components preferred.
Experience with Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, and Industry 4.0 technology pillars preferred.
