This role provides strategic leadership for the deployment, validation, integration, and lifecycle management of laboratory software and automation solutions supporting GxP and non-GxP research and quality operations. The individual will manage a dedicated team, oversee informatics activities, and ensure all systems comply with regulatory, data integrity, and cybersecurity requirements. Key responsibilities include defining requirements, managing service providers, and acting as a subject matter expert during audits. The role requires expertise in LIMS, ELN, CDS, and SDMS platforms, alongside proficiency in 21 CFR Part 11, USP, GAMP 5, and ICH guidelines. The position solves critical challenges regarding instrument connectivity, data acquisition, and the maintenance of validated states for complex laboratory environments.

What you'll do

  • Lead the campus-wide Laboratory and Benchtop Systems team by managing personnel, setting goals, and driving productivity.
  • Oversee the deployment, validation, and lifecycle management of laboratory software and benchtop instrument systems.
  • Ensure all laboratory informatics and automation solutions comply with GxP, data integrity, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for laboratory systems during internal audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Manage service providers and ensure alignment with contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to scientists and quality teams on instrument software qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve laboratory workflows and system reliability across the site.
  • Monitor industry trends to evaluate and integrate new technologies that meet evolving business needs.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical laboratory operations, informatics, instrument qualification, analytical systems, or IT roles supporting lab environments.
  • Proven leadership and track record in managing laboratory informatics programs and benchtop systems across a multi-functional campus.
  • Expertise in 21 CFR Part 11, USP <1058>, GAMP 5 Category 3/4/5 systems, and ICH Q2/Q7 guidelines.
  • Required hands-on experience with LIMS (e.g., LabWare, SampleManager), ELN, CDS (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon), and SDMS platforms.
  • Experience with IT oversight and integration of laboratory instruments and electronic systems supporting GMP and R&D operations.
  • Substantial knowledge of QSR, GMP, FDA, GAMP, ISO, ICH, and other applicable standards and guidance regimes.
  • Experienced in documentation, technical writing, and troubleshooting for laboratory informatics and benchtop system lifecycle management.
