As an Application Software Engineer, Applied AI, you will join the Application Software team to design, evaluate, deploy, and integrate modern AI systems into production environments. What you'll do

Develop reliable software solutions that power production, flight, and Starlink operations.
Integrate large language models and agentic systems into internal products and infrastructure.
Manage the full lifecycle of AI systems from initial prototype to production deployment.
Identify high-leverage AI opportunities by analyzing specific user problems and requirements.
Architect production systems for multi-agent orchestration, tool-use, and advanced retrieval.
Build evaluation frameworks and monitoring systems for AI quality, safety, latency, and cost.
Incorporate emerging LLM techniques and best practices into existing SpaceX programs.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software experience.
At least 1 year of experience in full stack development.
Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, and integrating AI models into production systems.
Proven track record of delivering end-to-end AI products from prototype through production deployment.
Experience with modern LLM techniques including agentic systems, tool-use, multi-agent orchestration, and advanced retrieval architectures.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, front-end frameworks (Angular, React), and databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
