The Analytics Engineer III joins the System Data & Analytics team as a specialized technical professional focused on architecting, engineering, and governing the enterprise semantic layer. Rather than building reports, this role functions as a logic architect responsible for the full lifecycle of infrastructure, including designing reusable data models, security frameworks, and metric definitions to establish a single source of truth. The position involves determining modeling strategies like Import, DirectQuery, or Direct Lake modes while managing legacy SSAS partitions and modern Microsoft Fabric semantic models. Key technical requirements include expert SQL and advanced DAX skills, along with proficiency in Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, and Power BI Service. Candidates must possess expertise in dimensional modeling, VertiPaq engine mechanics, and CI/CD pipelines for semantic models integrated with Git to solve complex data governance challenges.
Architect and engineer the enterprise semantic layer as a primary logic architect.
Design reusable data models, security frameworks, and metric definitions to create a single source of truth.
Determine optimal modeling strategies including Import, DirectQuery, and Direct Lake modes for performance and freshness.
Manage legacy SSAS partitions while building modern Microsoft Fabric semantic models.
Utilize engineering tools like Tabular Editor and ALM Toolkit to manage the application lifecycle of tabular models.
Define governance and security logic for specific data domains with minimal oversight.
Develop complex calculations using advanced DAX and SQL.
Implement CI/CD pipelines and Git integration for semantic model deployment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (equivalent experience accepted).
6 years of progressive experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence architecture, or semantic modeling.
Experience independently architecting enterprise-grade data models and managing the application lifecycle of tabular models.
Expert knowledge of SQL and Advanced DAX.
Expert knowledge of Dimensional Modeling (Star Schema) and Composite Models.
Deep proficiency in Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, and Power BI Service.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for semantic models and Git integration.
Deep understanding of the VertiPaq engine; Epic Cogito Certification and Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification required within one year (preferred).
