Join the Privacy Preserving Machine Learning team as a senior engineer and privacy advocate to develop cutting-edge privacy-preserving technologies for measurement and machine learning. This unique role involves rotating between hands-on software engineering and privacy engineering, culminating in an opportunity to join either team full-time. You will design, develop, and deploy end-to-end systems that uphold Apple’s stringent privacy standards while communicating complex trade-offs and risks to senior leadership. Key responsibilities include fostering cross-team collaboration and influencing policy decisions. Ideal candidates possess strong software engineering skills, experience with differential privacy or private federated learning, and a passion for customer privacy. Proficiency in relevant technologies such as Python, Rust, and familiarity with machine learning frameworks is essential.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop end-to-end measurement systems that meet Apple’s high privacy standards.
  • Communicate system design tradeoffs and privacy risks to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Build consensus and collaborate across multiple teams on complex projects.
  • Implement privacy-preserving technologies for machine learning and measurement.
  • Analyze system architectures for potential privacy impacts and suggest mitigations.

What we're looking for

  • Strong software engineering skills and ability to solve complex problems independently.
  • Experience with differential privacy or private federated learning.
  • Passion for customer privacy and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build cross-team consensus and collaboration.
  • BS in Computer Science, EE or equivalent experience.
