ML Prototyping Engineer, Machine Learning Research

What you'll do

• Train, fine-tune, and adapt foundation models for novel applications.
• Experiment with emerging machine learning techniques and architectures.
• Build end-to-end prototypes that demonstrate ML capabilities in specific contexts.
• Create interactive experiences to communicate research ideas to internal teams and the broader community.
• Translate emerging research techniques into functional, working systems.
• Rapidly iterate on prototypes based on feedback to explore new technical possibilities.
• Implement techniques directly from academic machine learning papers.

What we're looking for

• Experience training and fine-tuning ML models using PyTorch, JAX, or MLX.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals including model architectures, training dynamics, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with the current ML research landscape and experience implementing techniques from ML papers.
• Proficiency in Python and Swift, with C++ or Rust as a plus.
• Track record of building complete, working systems rather than isolated components.
• Experience with LLMs including prompting, fine-tuning, RLHF, and inference optimization.
• Familiarity with Apple platforms and frameworks such as CoreML, Metal, and SwiftUI.
• Ability to communicate ML research to diverse technical audiences and present at conferences.
