What you'll do

  • Develop new machine learning modeling approaches involving vision, time-series, or multimodal data.
  • Advance the state of the art for accessibility-related problems like speech access and visual understanding.
  • Design and analyze experiments to evaluate various machine learning modeling approaches.
  • Integrate machine learning models into human-centered applications in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Evaluate ML-powered applications using human-centered research methods and user study protocols.
  • Produce and share research contributions for internal use or external publication in ML and HCI venues.
  • Develop data collection and curation protocols, including the creation of annotation guidelines.

What we're looking for

  • PhD in Machine Learning, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience as a researcher in machine learning, specifically in computer vision or multi-modal modeling.
  • A publication and research record commensurate with seniority.
  • Proven history of turning research contributions into tools, guidelines, or products for commercial or open source use.
  • Experience designing machine learning models for sign language or other accessibility-related problems.
  • Experience in data collection or data curation, including developing data or annotation protocols.
  • Experience using human-centered evaluation methods and developing user study protocols.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
