AI Software Developer The AI Software Developer joins the Air Traffic Business Area to support the development of the Common Baseline, a mission-critical automation solution built on a hybrid cloud data mesh architecture. Working within a Scaled Agile framework, you will design and implement microservices-based applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams like systems engineering and DevSecOps. Your daily responsibilities include writing clean, testable code, participating in sprint ceremonies, integrating services with databases and APIs, and utilizing AI-assisted tools to enhance development quality. You will work with technologies including Java, Python, C++, Linux, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and various cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. This role focuses on building and modernizing real-time, safety-critical systems that support national air traffic operations within a highly regulated environment where reliability is paramount for infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications using modern software engineering best practices.
  • Translate complex system requirements into functional software solutions in a safety-critical environment.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following CI/CD and DevSecOps protocols.
  • Integrate services with databases, messaging systems, and external APIs.
  • Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and continuous improvement of real-time systems.
  • Implement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
  • Utilize AI-assisted tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, debugging, and test creation.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting microservices-based systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or C++ on a Linux-based system.
  • Experience or exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems, automation, or intelligent platforms (preferred).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and understanding of APIs and distributed system concepts.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust investigation.
