AI Software Developer The AI Software Developer joins the Air Traffic Business Area to support the development of the Common Baseline, a mission-critical automation solution built on a hybrid cloud data mesh architecture. Working within a Scaled Agile framework, you will design and implement microservices-based applications while collaborating with systems engineering, product delivery, and DevSecOps teams. Your daily responsibilities include writing clean code, integrating services with databases and messaging systems, performing performance tuning, and implementing automated testing strategies using AI-assisted tools. You will utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ on Linux-based systems, alongside technologies like Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and various cloud platforms. This role focuses on building and modernizing real-time, safety-critical software to support national air traffic operations within a highly regulated environment where reliability is paramount for infrastructure.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications using modern software engineering best practices.
Translate complex system requirements into functional software solutions in a safety-critical environment.
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following CI/CD and DevSecOps protocols.
Integrate services with databases, messaging systems, and external APIs.
Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and continuous improvement of real-time systems.
Implement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, debugging, and test creation.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree.
Hands-on experience building and supporting microservices-based systems.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or C++ on Linux systems.
Experience or exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems, automation, or intelligent platforms.
Experience working in Agile environments and understanding of APIs and distributed system concepts.
U.S. citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust investigation.
