As an AI Security Software Engineer (Starshield), you will join a newly formed team dedicated to developing AI-powered automation and platforms to address pressing national security problems. You will design and build security-critical agents to automate network and systems defense, identify and fix vulnerabilities within Starshield infrastructure, and perform real-time detections and investigations. Your daily work involves leveraging AI for fast-paced development while ensuring these tools remain highly trusted and secure. The role requires proficiency in software development languages such as Python, C++, and Golang. You will apply skills in agent engineering, robust software system design, and network security to solve complex problems involving malicious activity detection, cryptography, and operating system security. You will also manage containerized deployments on Kubernetes and maintain CI pipelines.

Leverage AI to discover and fix security issues within Starshield infrastructure.
Provide guidance and perform testing for AI integrations into new and existing systems.
Identify new areas for security improvements through automation and AI.
Maintain production systems and improve security posture through direct implementation.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in security software development in lieu of a degree.
Experience with one or more software development languages such as Python, C++, or Golang.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
Experience with one or more software development languages (preferred).
Experience designing and building production software across the stack, including backend services, data models, and modern web frontends (preferred).
Experience taking software from prototype to production using Kubernetes, CI pipelines, monitoring, and secure connections (preferred).
Experience in fundamental security engineering areas like identity, cryptography, network security, and operating system security (preferred).
