As a Security Software Engineer (Starshield), you will join the team responsible for government-focused earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. You will influence software security across product lines by designing and building security infrastructure, including cryptographic services and security-critical features for routers, dishes, gateways, and satellites. Your daily work involves maintaining production systems, building prototypes, and identifying security improvements for in-space mesh networks. The role requires proficiency in software engineering, applied cryptography, network security, operating system security, secure boot, incident response, and vulnerability research. You must demonstrate experience with Python, C++, or Golang, as well as designing solutions for distributed systems or large-scale infrastructure. The work focuses on securing next-generation communication and sensing software while navigating complex, interactive systems and fundamental network protocols like TCP/IP and UDP.

Develop security features for routers, dishes, gateways, and satellites.
Integrate security into factory processes and provide supporting network services.
Maintain production systems and improve security posture through direct implementation and team recommendations.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in security software development in lieu of a degree.
Experience with one or more software development languages such as Python, C++, or Golang.
Experience designing and implementing security solutions for operating systems, distributed systems, or other enterprise/large-scale infrastructure.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee eligible for Department of State authorization.
Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Experience contributing security improvements to complex systems (preferred).
Experience working with special purpose security hardware such as TPMs and HSMs (preferred).
Fundamental understanding of network protocols, including the TCP/IP stack and UDP based protocols (preferred).
