As a 2027 Summer Intern - Information Technology at Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation, you will join a specific IT unit to work on at least one major project during the summer. You will perform programming, development, integration, and system administration tasks while providing technical guidance to team members. Your daily responsibilities include identifying and resolving complex application problems, developing system modules based on customer requirements, and performing integrated testing of components. To succeed, you must demonstrate proficiency in programming logic, system analysis techniques, and documentation standards. The role requires core competencies in analytical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication to manage technical projects. You will work within the financial services domain, supporting infrastructure change management and providing training or usability support for both in-house systems and purchased hardware or software solutions.
Perform programming, development, integration, and system administration assignments.
Resolve complex application and technical problems, including off-shift and weekend support calls.
Develop major system modules, programs, or infrastructure releases based on customer requirements.
Execute integrated testing and customer acceptance testing for various system components.
Integrate in-house developed systems with purchased hardware and software solutions.
Assist customers with documentation, training, and usability efforts.
Deliver a final presentation to management regarding the details of assigned projects.
What we're looking for
Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year university or college in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, AI, or another relevant degree program.
Must maintain a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA.
Must have 90 completed semester hours before the start of the internship (preferred).
Ability to work independently and use analytical skills to solve complex technical problems.
Knowledge of programming languages, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, and documentation standards.
Strong communication skills to convey information clearly and accurately in a business environment.
Ability to perform project management, systems administration, and integration tasks for hardware and software solutions.
Must be able to relocate to Nashville, TN, and commute daily using reliable transportation.
