As an X-Force Associate Hacker, you will join the IBM Consulting team as part of a specialized penetration testing group. You will work with diverse clients to secure their applications and infrastructure by identifying exploitable misconfigurations, weak credentials, unpatched systems, and logic flaws. Your daily responsibilities include performing documentation, vetting, and weaponization of vulnerabilities through reverse engineering, while preparing technical reports for executive teams. To succeed in this role, you must possess an in-depth understanding of network design, security tools for vulnerability scanning, and encryption protocols. The position requires proficiency in programming languages such as Java, .Net, Python, or Ruby. You will solve critical security problems by uncovering vulnerabilities in networks, systems, and devices to help organizations strengthen their overall security posture against potential threats.

What you'll do

  • Conduct penetration tests against client applications, networks, systems, and databases to identify security vulnerabilities.
  • Identify exploitable misconfigurations, weak credentials, unpatched systems, and complex attack chains.
  • Perform documentation, vetting, and weaponization of identified vulnerabilities through reverse engineering.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and briefings to both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise through research, tool development, and consulting engagements.
  • Rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and diverse client environments with minimal assistance.

What we're looking for

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • You must have an in-depth understanding of network design, security, authentication, authorization, and encryption protocols.
  • You must have an in-depth understanding of network security tools for scanning, monitoring, sniffing, and firewall management.
  • Programming experience in Java, .Net, Python, or Ruby is required.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and leadership skills are required.
  • A history of published research, blog posts, or conference presentations is preferred.
  • Experience in Network Penetration Testing, Application Penetration Testing, Red Teaming, Social Engineering, or Vulnerability Scanning is preferred.
