TL;DR · Windows System Administrator

The Windows System Administrator will support a Department of War customer by managing the administration, maintenance, security, and reliability of mission-critical Windows Server infrastructure. This role involves independently administering enterprise environments, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and implementing system changes to ensure operational requirements are met. Key responsibilities include patching, securing, and troubleshooting Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 versions, as well as managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Azure, Nutanix, and PowerShell scripting for automation. Candidates must apply security updates, remediate vulnerabilities using DISA STIGs, and perform root-cause analysis. The work focuses on infrastructure modernization, server builds, migrations, and providing technical guidance to junior administrators within a production environment requiring a DoW Secret clearance.

What you'll do

  • Administer, patch, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 in enterprise production environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related authentication and authorization services.
  • Provision, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server VMs in Microsoft Azure and Nutanix environments.
  • Monitor server health and performance while performing root-cause analysis on recurring incidents.
  • Implement DISA STIGs, remediate vulnerabilities, and partner with cybersecurity on compliance assessments.
  • Execute server builds, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning under established change management processes.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administration, inventory, reporting, and configuration tasks.
  • Mentor junior administrators and maintain server inventories, SOPs, and recovery documentation.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required, or additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have at least four years of relevant systems administration experience.
  • Must have hands-on experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server 2019, 2022, or newer in enterprise environments.
  • Must have working knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, NTFS, and Windows authentication.
  • Must have experience with Windows Server virtualization in cloud-hosted or enterprise virtualized environments.
  • Must have experience with Windows Server patching, security configuration, vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG requirements.
  • Must have practical experience using PowerShell for systems administration and automation.
  • Must be able to meet DoD 8140 cybersecurity workforce qualification requirements.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (preferred).
  • Security+ CE or other DoD 8140-accepted certification and a relevant Microsoft certification (preferred).
  • Production experience with Windows Server 2025, Azure, and Nutanix (preferred).
  • Nutanix Certified Associate (preferred).
  • Experience with Failover Clustering, IIS, WSUS, MECM/SCCM, or enterprise backup and disaster recovery (preferred).
  • Experience with SCAP scanning tools, DISA STIG Viewer, and Ansible (preferred).
