The (USA) Staff, Application Security Engineer joins the security team to lead the development of enterprise capabilities for AI-assisted development. This individual contributor will establish application security strategies, architecture patterns, and secure coding standards specifically for AI-generated contributions across the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines. Key responsibilities include quantifying defect rates between human and AI changes, pre-training and fine-tuning enterprise AI coding agents on secure patterns, and orchestrating security tools to connect findings to remediation workflows. The role requires expertise in application security, machine learning, and various coding languages. You will solve technical problems related to data-handling boundaries, model interactions, and prompt safety while ensuring that AI coding assistants like IDEs, CLIs, and PR bots adhere to enterprise policies and maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Develop Application Security strategies for AI-assisted development across the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines.
Establish architecture patterns for the safe use of AI coding assistants, including IDEs and PR bots.
Quantify defect rates and risk levels between human-generated and AI-generated code changes.
Author secure coding standards for AI-generated code and drive adoption through telemetry and enforcement.
Pre-train and fine-tune enterprise AI coding agents on secure patterns and vetted libraries.
Create developer blueprints and code recipes that embed secure defaults into AI scaffolding and templates.
Orchestrate security tools to connect findings directly to AI remediation workflows.
Mentor staff and partner teams on AI-secure coding, prompt safety, and pipeline guiding principles.
What we're looking for
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 4 years’ experience in application security.
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in application security or a related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
Experience in Application Security, Machine Learning, and developing code languages.
Ability to develop AI-assisted development strategies, architecture patterns, and secure coding standards.
Ability to assess risks, quantify defect rates, and orchestrate security tools for AI remediation workflows.
Ability to pre-train and fine-tune enterprise AI coding agents on secure patterns and vetted libraries.
Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CSSP, CASE, or GWEB (preferred).
Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area and 2 years’ experience leading security projects (preferred).
Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies (preferred).
