What you'll do

  • Administer Solaris Zones, Logical Domains, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems on VMware.
  • Execute Solaris patching using Alternate Boot Environments (ABE) and manage Red Hat patching via Puppet.
  • Develop Ansible playbooks and Puppet modules to automate Solaris patch management and operational tasks.
  • Monitor OS and hardware health using SL1 and triage security alerts from Tenable, Tripwire, and Splunk.
  • Manage account policies, host-level firewalls, and security hardening across various environments.
  • Perform incident management and change requests using ServiceNow while participating in on-call rotations.
  • Create and maintain technical SOPs and runbooks for patch orchestration, automation, and security workflows.

What we're looking for

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (NACI T1).
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering Oracle Solaris (Zones/LDOMs) and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux at scale.
  • Experience with ABE-based Solaris patching, rollback, and vendor bundle planning.
  • Practical experience with Puppet and Ansible for UNIX automation and strong shell scripting (bash/ksh).
  • Familiarity with VMware-hosted Linux operations and coordination with platform teams.
  • Experience with operational monitoring and security tools including SL1, Tenable, Tripwire, and Splunk.
  • Proven use of ServiceNow for incident/change management and on-call processes via XMatters.
