The Undersea Systems Security Engineer joins the team to support cybersecurity and systems security analysis for U.S. Navy afloat and undersea platforms. This role involves designing, assessing, and implementing cybersecurity solutions throughout the system lifecycle, including integration, testing, operations, and sustainment. The engineer will evaluate system vulnerabilities, perform security assessments, and provide mission-focused recommendations to strengthen the resilience of critical naval systems. Key responsibilities include reviewing design artifacts, identifying security gaps, and supporting risk mitigation planning aligned with DoD and Navy requirements. Required technical skills include knowledge of networking concepts like LAN, WAN, bandwidth management, and protocols such as TCP, IP, DHCP, and DNS. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in CS or Engineering, a Secret clearance, and a DoD IAT Level II Certification.
Design and implement cybersecurity solutions across the entire system lifecycle.
Evaluate system vulnerabilities and perform security assessments to mitigate risks.
Apply cybersecurity engineering principles to network design and protocols like TCP, IP, and DNS.
Support systems security testing by reviewing design artifacts and identifying security gaps.
Provide technical recommendations based on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
Create documentation, briefs, and technical reports to support system accreditation.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in systems security engineering, cybersecurity, software engineering, or network security.
3+ years of experience in Navy acquisition or In-service programs.
Bachelor’s degree in CS or Engineering.
DoD IAT Level II Certification.
Knowledge of information security systems engineering principles, cybersecurity fundamentals, and DoD mission needs.
Knowledge of networking concepts including LAN, WAN, bandwidth management, network protocols, and directory services.
Experience with Navy afloat systems (preferred); experience with RMF policies and procedures for Navy systems (preferred); experience with Zero Trust implementation (preferred).
