TL;DR · Technical Fellow, Encryption

Technical Fellow, Encryption serves as a senior technical authority within the organization, shaping the strategy, architecture, and innovation of cryptographic systems and appliances. This role focuses on high-assurance encryption solutions to protect US Government classified data across defense and national security domains. The individual will lead the design, assessment, and deployment of cryptographic solutions for tactical radios, datalinks, embedded mission systems, and space systems. Key responsibilities include defining technical strategies for key management, secure boot, trusted execution, and post-quantum cryptography while mentoring senior staff. Required expertise includes government-approved cryptographic algorithms, COMSEC device architectures, anti-tamper designs, and hardware/software co-design. The role addresses the critical problem of securing mission-critical communications and data in highly-contested environments by ensuring systems meet rigorous certification requirements and remain resilient against evolving threats in multi-domain operations.

What you'll do

  • Define and guide technical strategies for encryption architectures, key management, and cryptographic modernization across defense programs.
  • Lead the design, assessment, and certification of high-assurance cryptographic solutions for tactical radios, datalinks, and space systems.
  • Provide expert guidance on secure boot, trusted execution, hardware roots of trust, and anti-tamper protections.
  • Advise program teams on security architecture, technical risk, trade studies, and government certification requirements.
  • Support business development by creating competitive encryption solutions for defense and intelligence customers.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews of encryption implementations, key management concepts, and secure communication architectures.
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects in developing high-assurance cryptographic expertise across the enterprise.
  • Represent the company as a technical authority to government stakeholders, industry bodies, and executive leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 25 years of experience in applied cryptography, secure communications, embedded security, and high-assurance cybersecurity engineering.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing at least five Government-certified defense, intelligence, or national security products requiring advanced encryption.
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic algorithms, secure key management, embedded architectures, and government certification requirements.
  • Experience with classified systems, mission assurance, and secure system integration in complex program environments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical strategy, influence cross-functional organizations, and engage with senior leadership.
  • U.S. citizens.
