Staff Software Engineer, Observability

What you'll do

• Define and execute the full-stack observability roadmap for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting infrastructure.
• Own and evolve the observability control plane including telemetry ingestion pipelines and cost management strategies.
• Lead a team of six engineers to build scalable, self-service observability solutions.
• Maintain high availability and 99.9% uptime for all internal observability systems.
• Partner with the Command Center to align on dependency mapping and incident response workflows.
• Build in-house tools where off-the-shelf solutions are insufficient for scale.
• Integrate AI-driven approaches to accelerate progress toward full-stack observability goals.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale observability or infrastructure platform initiatives.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and public cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Proficiency in coding languages such as Go or Python.
• Experience integrating observability agents, libraries, and instrumentation into production codebases.
• Proven experience owning an observability control plane or telemetry pipeline in high-traffic environments.
• Familiarity with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb, Humio, or Sentry is a plus.
• Experience with the Vector data pipeline or equivalent high-throughput log/metrics routing tools is a plus.
