Staff Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Own the architecture of high-volume, high-availability services with strict correctness and latency requirements.
• Design event-driven and workflow-based architectures using Kafka, state machines, and sagas.
• Build agentic workflows and API layers that allow LLM-based assistants to securely act on product data.
• Define safety guardrails for agents, including authorization, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and auditability.
• Establish evaluation, testing, and monitoring practices for LLM behavior and production quality metrics.
• Write production code, design systems, and perform code reviews for 60-80% of your time.
• Lead technical specifications, scope effort, and resolve complex cross-system production issues.
• Mentor engineers on distributed systems, applied AI, and operational excellence.

What we're looking for

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience building systems and services for large-scale business environments using Java and Spring Boot.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating robust, highly scalable, and highly available distributed systems.
• Practical experience with microservices and messaging technologies including REST, GraphQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Strong database design experience across SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, Cassandra).
• Hands-on experience building and shipping AI/ML-powered features to production, including LLM-based applications.
• Experience designing agentic systems, including multi-step workflows, tool/API integration, and guardrails.
• Experience with fintech, payments, or high-correctness domains (preferred).
