Staff Software Engineer, Experimentation Platform

What you'll do

• Define the technical roadmap and architecture for the experimentation platform's infrastructure.
• Build near real-time systems using Scala, Pub/Sub, Akka, and Dataflow on Google Cloud.
• Architect and maintain large-scale batch data pipelines using Google Dataflow, BigQuery, and Airflow.
• Develop core capabilities like experiment targeting and localized assignments to reduce latency.
• Optimize performance and efficiency across experimentation pipelines, frameworks, and query layers.
• Build infrastructure that supports diverse statistical methods and thousands of metrics for analysis.
• Research and integrate advanced experimentation methods and cloud technologies into the platform.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on the team.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data engineering and architecture.
• Proficiency in Scala, Python, and SQL.
• Experience building large-scale data pipelines using Spark, Flink, Google Dataflow, BigQuery, or Airflow/Composer.
• Familiarity with Python libraries for statistical analysis such as Statsmodels and SciPy.
• Proven expertise in A/B testing methodologies and statistical concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and mentor engineering teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
