What you'll do

Own the AI maturity and developer-experience roadmap by prototyping on Coinbase's production AI infrastructure.
Lead platform excellence workstreams to improve reliability, observability, and operational readiness for Tier-1 systems.
Define build-versus-buy strategies for internal tools, AI capabilities, and developer experience across the organization.
Provide high-level architectural guidance to multiple engineering squads to solve complex technical challenges.
Build secure, distributed backend services with full ownership of SLOs and incident response in regulated environments.
Integrate agentic AI systems including RAG pipelines, LLM orchestration layers, and guardrail frameworks.
Develop scalable microservices using Go and Python while ensuring all production changes are traceable and safe.

What we're looking for

8+ years of software engineering experience in architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems.
Proficiency in backend service design, API development (gRPC, MCP, GraphQL), and scalable microservices architectures.
Experience with cloud-native infrastructure including AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and event-driven architectures like Kafka or MQ.
Proven ability to lead ambiguous, high-impact technical initiatives from conception to production across multi-team problem spaces.
Track record of building secure, compliant internal tools within regulated environments with a focus on audit logging and data governance.
Experience building or integrating agentic AI systems including RAG pipelines, LLM orchestration, and evaluation frameworks.
Proficiency in Go and willingness to work across Python.
Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight for business-ready outputs.
