Staff Software Engineer, Agent Gateway

What you'll do

• Architect and lead the end-to-end design of gateway capabilities like virtual MCP server aggregation and brokered delegation.
• Design secure systems for credential handling, token exchange, tenant isolation, and audit logging.
• Track and influence industry standards for MCP, OAuth token exchange, and agent identity specifications.
• Integrate agentic tools into the engineering workflow to accelerate design, coding, and operations.
• Develop high-performance data and control plane services for large-scale agentic traffic.
• Establish technical standards for code reviews, testing, incident retrospectives, and design documentation.
• Mentor team members and foster alignment across adjacent engineering groups.

What we're looking for

• Experience 7+ years building distributed, highly available production backend systems.
• Hands-on experience shipping production services in Java and/or Go.
• Strong grounding in OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and RFC 8693 token exchange.
• Proven success in shipping identity, authorization, or edge-of-network services at scale.
• Working fluency with agentic development tools like Claude Code and MCP servers.
• Ability to write strong technical design docs and communicate effectively across teams.
• Experience building or operating an MCP server, agent framework, or LLM-facing gateway (preferred).
• Prior work on multi-tenant SaaS platforms at Okta or equivalent enterprise identity providers (preferred).
