JOB TITLE: Staff Fullstack Engineer (Ruby/Vue.js) Monetization Engineering: Purchase As a Staff Fullstack Engineer on the Purchase team within the Monetization section, you will provide technical leadership to own the end-to-end purchase experience for all products. You will design and build fullstack features, including unified purchase flows, GitLab Flex subscription flows, and self-service promotional discounts. Your daily work involves building interfaces and services that process transactions while integrating with billing and CRM systems like Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe. You will use Ruby on Rails and Vue.js to develop resilient, well-tested technical solutions. This role requires mentoring engineers, reducing architectural risk, and ensuring high reliability for financial data. You will solve complex problems related to transaction accuracy, checkout-style flows, and modernizing the purchase frontend to improve clarity and conversion.

What you'll do

Design and build fullstack features across the end-to-end purchase journey.
Lead technical design for new purchasing capabilities and a unified purchase experience.
Integrate purchase flows correctly and safely with downstream billing and CRM systems.
Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, and rollout safety.
Mentor engineers and provide constructive feedback through merge request reviews.
Identify and reduce technical debt and architectural risk within the purchase experience.
Participate in incident response for purchase-related issues to mitigate revenue impact.

What we're looking for

Professional fullstack engineering experience across frontend and backend code.
Experience with Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.
Experience owning technical direction for a product area and driving iterative solutions.
Experience building or maintaining transactional or checkout-style flows, ideally in billing, ecommerce, or subscriptions.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems.
Proficiency in written and verbal English for a remote, asynchronous work environment.
Familiarity with third-party billing or CRM systems, such as Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe (preferred).
