Staff Flight Test Engineer, Unmanned Air Vehicles joins the Test and Evaluation team to support the developmental testing of a new Group 5 UAS. This role involves owning and supporting all facets of the test program, including resource planning, conducting ground and flight tests at private and government-owned ranges, and performing initial data analysis for systems under test. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop requirements and investigate issues during early prototype development. Key technical competencies include experience in aero/performance, loads/dynamics, propulsion, or electrical systems, along with knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-516C, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, and AS5653. Candidates should possess expertise in the National Airspace System and UAS regulations. Preferred skills include proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript to support complex problem-solving for unmanned aircraft systems.
Perform senior-level development flight test activities for the Fury UAS including resource planning and ground testing.
Lead teams of engineers and program representatives to conduct flight tests at private and government ranges.
Collect and perform initial analysis on data gathered from systems under test.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop requirements and discuss results based on collected data.
Manage all facets of the test program including planning, coordination, execution, and reporting.
Identify and investigate initial issues during the development and testing phases.
Improve and develop internal processes for flight testing and system evaluation.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent engineering experience.
12+ years of experience as a test conductor/director for developmental aircraft, weapons, or missile systems.
Experience in test engineering for manned or unmanned aircraft including requirements development, planning, execution, and reporting.
Technical expertise in aero/performance, loads/dynamics, propulsion, or electrical systems.
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-516C, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653, and National Airspace System regulations.
Experience with large aircraft development and working with the Department of Defense.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Experience with software code/script building in languages like Go, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript (preferred); experience with large UAS development (preferred).
