As a Staff Engineer at Adyen, you will join the Financial Products team in Madrid to lead technical initiatives and system design for critical money flows, including settlement models and reconciliation pipelines. Own technical leadership for critical money flows across settlement models and reconciliation pipelines.
Design and build robust, scalable systems to improve reliability and performance of the settlement platform.
Engineer for correctness and resilience by implementing idempotency, retries, recovery strategies, and safe rollout practices.
Lead architecture and technical decision-making, driving design reviews and communicating trade-offs to stakeholders.
Improve developer velocity by simplifying interfaces, reducing coupling, and clarifying domain ownership in the system.
What we're looking for
At least 10-12 years of industry experience in Software Engineering.
Hands-on experience in system design, architecture, and development with Java, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis.
Proactive approach to identifying and solving complex problems in unstructured environments.
Strong technical leadership and ability to connect business goals with technical execution.
Experience in designing scalable systems for reliability, performance, and operability.
Clear communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functionally in English.
