What you'll do

Design and implement a robust service mesh architecture for microservices across hybrid cloud environments.
Integrate the service mesh with existing infrastructure to ensure seamless operation and interoperability.
Establish security policies and traffic routing rules to maintain a secure application environment.
Develop monitoring dashboards for deep insights into service mesh health and performance.
Mentor engineers on service mesh principles and best practices, fostering knowledge sharing within the team.
Work closely with networking teams to address challenges in integrating the service mesh securely.
Contribute to open-source projects like Istio and represent GEICO's leadership in service mesh adoption.

What we're looking for

Deep expertise in service mesh technologies, particularly Istio.
4+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers.
Experience with Go programming language; Rust is a plus.
In-depth understanding of Linux OS performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security.
Expertise in observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Kiali.
