Senior Software Engineer, Merchant Intel 2

What you'll do

• Lead the technical construction of systems that enable local businesses to integrate with the Uber Eats marketplace.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain high-availability, high-traffic services throughout the entire software engineering lifecycle.
• Co-own the engineering and architectural strategy with the Engineering Manager to ensure long-term platform scalability.
• Partner with product teams to define requirements and execute a roadmap for rapid merchant feature delivery.
• Oversee the prioritization of architectural improvements to maximize user value and business impact.
• Manage operational excellence including support, on-call rotations, deployments, and incident management.
• Champion and implement engineering best practices across the entire development team.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of experience with common web technologies including HTML5, CSS, Javascript, TypeScript, Application Servers, and Web Applications.
• Proficiency in Javascript and experience developing UIs with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Experience with Node.js, React-Query, GraphQL, or other server-side Javascript technologies and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements and draft detailed design documents.
• Advanced expertise in modern frontend frameworks and web technologies, specifically React (preferred).
• Familiarity with UX design tools like Figma and principles of good user experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility (preferred).
• Experience in multiple programming languages such as Go or Java (preferred).
