As a Sr. SDE - Embedded, you will join the Amazon Leo team to develop software for a low Earth orbit satellite network. You will participate in all phases of software development, from requirements through implementation, testing, and operations. Your daily responsibilities include architecting and implementing software for a satellite constellation, writing device drivers, and developing system applications for flight code and flight management. You will work closely with hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing. The role requires developing embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages within a real-time operating system environment. You will also write software to interact with electronics using I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet communications to solve critical functions like power management and autonomous control.

What you'll do

Develop embedded software using C, C++, or Rust in a real-time operating system environment.
Architect, design, and implement software for the satellite constellation.
Write software to interact with electronics using I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet.
Develop device drivers and system applications for flight code and flight management.
Support board bring-up and integration testing in coordination with hardware teams.
Manage all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and operations.

What we're looking for

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Experience developing embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment.
Experience writing software for device communications using I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred).
