The Sr Principal Network Communications joins the Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector team at Edwards AFB to provide real-time support for network Ground Systems during flight operations and maintenance. This role involves fault isolation, remediation, and resolution of communications issues, as well as deploying equipment and managing data movement between Ground Systems and external networks. Key responsibilities include performing field integration, troubleshooting, and repairing communications systems in flightline, hangar, and command-and-control environments. The position requires expertise in designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks using tools like WireShark, Opnet, and SolarWinds. Candidates must possess CompTIA Security Plus certification, experience with STIG compliance, and proficiency in configuring encryption devices like TACLANES to support complex military flight communications and ground operations.
Provide real-time support for network Ground Systems during flight operations and maintenance.
Perform fault isolation, remediation, and resolution for communications and networking issues.
Execute field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of systems in flightline, hangar, and command-and-control environments.
Manage local network configurations, security patches, and updates for Responsible Engineers.
Lead air crew engagement to solve complex technical problems arising during operations.
Review and analyze supplier design data and define functional test requirements for system integration.
Maintain and integrate communications and network equipment required for ground and flight operations.
Troubleshoot and repair internal operational issues with system admins and onsite personnel.
What we're looking for
Must have a High School diploma/GED and 14 years of experience; or an Associate’s Degree and 10 years; or a Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years; or a Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant Network Communications/Administration experience.
Must have a current CompTIA Security Plus (or higher) certification.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Experience with STIG compliance.
Experience designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks.
Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware and encryption devices (TACLANES).
Experience in the use of network analysis tools (e.g., WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.) (preferred).
