The Sr. Network Security Engineer (VPN) joins the Network Security Engineering team to lead the design, deployment, and management of enterprise remote access VPN infrastructure. This role involves owning the full lifecycle of remote access solutions, including architecting zero-trust architectures and managing Linux-based infrastructure. The engineer will configure and support VPN clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms while performing advanced troubleshooting for complex connectivity issues. Key responsibilities include developing automation and CI/CD workflows using Python, managing firewall policies, and monitoring security postures. Required technical expertise includes Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec, and SSL-based implementations, along with knowledge of dynamic routing like eBGP, iBGP, and OSPF. The position focuses on building resilient, high-reliability remote access systems and ensuring operational reliability through custom tooling and proactive maintenance.
Architect, design, and deploy end-to-end enterprise remote access VPN solutions using Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec, and SSL.
Manage the full lifecycle of remote access infrastructure, including policy definition, client distribution, and performance optimization.
Configure and support VPN clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms.
Manage Linux-based infrastructure and network security systems with ownership of configuration and custom tooling.
Develop automation and CI/CD workflows using Python to streamline deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of security systems.
Implement zero-trust remote access architectures and manage firewall policies with integrated VPN solutions.
Monitor VPN performance and logs to proactively identify issues and formalize change management processes.
Apply system patches and perform periodic maintenance to improve the reliability of the remote access environment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of network security experience; OR 8+ years of network security experience in lieu of a degree.
3+ years of experience securing networks, IT infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and/or APIs.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Proven experience leading the design, deployment, and operation of enterprise remote access VPN solutions in large-scale environments (preferred).
Deep hands-on expertise with modern remote access platforms, client management, and complex troubleshooting across diverse operating systems (preferred).
Strong systems engineering foundation including networking knowledge, Linux infrastructure management, and ground-up solution design (preferred).
Demonstrated automation and software skills in Python for building custom tooling and CI/CD workflows (preferred).
Experience with dynamic routing, network segmentation, SIEM logging/alerting, and zero-trust architectures (preferred).
