JOB TITLE: Sr. Network Security Engineer (VPN)
The Sr. Network Security Engineer (VPN) joins the Network Security Engineering team to design, deploy, and manage enterprise remote access VPN infrastructure. This role involves owning the full lifecycle of remote access solutions, including architecting zero-trust architectures and managing Linux-based infrastructure. You will build and secure end-to-end VPN solutions, configure clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, and perform advanced troubleshooting of complex connectivity issues. Key technologies include Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec, and SSL-based implementations. You will utilize Python to develop automation and CI/CD workflows for policy enforcement and monitoring. The work focuses on securing network infrastructure, managing firewall policies, and ensuring operational reliability for remote connectivity across multi-site environments while integrating network security appliances with modern remote access technologies.
Architect, design, and deploy end-to-end enterprise remote access VPN solutions using Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec, and SSL.
Own the full lifecycle of remote access infrastructure, including policy definition, client distribution, and performance optimization.
Configure and support VPN clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms.
Manage Linux-based infrastructure and network security systems with end-to-end ownership of configuration and custom tooling.
Develop automation and CI/CD workflows using Python to streamline deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of security systems.
Implement zero-trust remote access architectures and manage firewall policies with integrated VPN solutions.
Monitor VPN performance and logs to proactively identify issues and formalize change management processes.
Apply system patches and perform periodic maintenance to ensure the reliability and security of the remote access environment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of network security experience.
8+ years of network security experience in lieu of a degree.
3+ years of experience securing networks, IT infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and/or APIs.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Proven experience leading the design, deployment, and operation of enterprise remote access VPN solutions (Tailscale, WireGuard, or comparable) (preferred).
Deep hands-on expertise with modern remote access platforms, client management, access policies, and performance tuning (preferred).
Strong systems engineering foundation including Linux infrastructure management and networking knowledge (preferred).
Demonstrated automation and software skills in Python for building custom tooling and CI/CD workflows (preferred).
