Senior Mechanical Engineer, HVAC & Controls

What you'll do

• Create drawings, design documentation, and reports for industrial and aerospace HVAC engineering projects.
• Perform all necessary calculations for HVAC and piping design including load, airflow, and pressure drop analysis.
• Design, program, and implement complex building automation systems (BMS/BAS) using DDC/PLC logic.
• Manage the construction lifecycle by overseeing quality control, resolving field conflicts, and coordinating multi-discipline contractor teams.
• Negotiate and manage construction contracts with subcontractors through final project close-out.
• Own the budget and schedule for engineering, permitting, procurement, and construction phases of assigned work.
• Coordinate and manage the acquisition of local, state, and federal building and mechanical permits.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and control systems in real-time during the construction and operation phases.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in design or build of mechanical, HVAC, or facility infrastructure.
• Expertise in HVAC control system architecture design, programming, and implementation.
• Proficiency in DDC/PLC systems and building automation platforms like Tridium Niagara, Siemens, or Johnson Controls.
• Knowledge of control communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or OPC-UA.
• Familiarity with codes including NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, and California Building Code.
• Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Vandenberg Space Force Base.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
