The Sr. Lead AI Engineer (AI Foundations) joins the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team to develop proprietary, scalable AI solutions. In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components. Key responsibilities include foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability. You will invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for production systems. The technical stack includes AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, Python, Go, Scala, Java, and C++. This position solves the business problem of creating responsible, high-performance AI infrastructure to deliver real-time, personalized customer experiences and transformative banking products.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
Implement similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability systems.
Utilize a tech stack including AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch.
Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
Lead and mentor an engineering team while influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
Apply novel techniques from scientific publications to production AI systems.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms.
Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 4 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms.
At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (preferred).
Experience designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an engineering team and influence cross-functional stakeholders (preferred).
Experience developing AI and ML algorithms using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang (preferred).
Experience applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software to improve hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost (preferred).
