The Sr. Director, Applied Researcher joins the AI Foundations team to lead a group of applied scientists in developing trustworthy, reliable AI systems for banking. This people leader role involves setting the strategic research vision, mentoring staff, and collaborating with cross-functional leaders to translate complex research into tangible business goals. You will build and apply AI foundation models through all phases of development, including design, training, evaluation, and implementation. Key responsibilities include pushing state-of-the-art developments into production-grade systems to improve customer experiences. What we're looking for
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or Mathematics plus 6 years of experience in Applied Research.
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields plus 8 years of experience in Applied Research.
At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
Hands-on experience developing AI foundation models and solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
Experience building large deep learning models and production-grade systems that deliver large-scale business impact.
Expertise in training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, or reinforcement learning.
Track record of high-quality machine learning ideas demonstrated by first-author publications or significant projects.
Experience with common training optimization frameworks like DeepSpeed or NeMo (preferred).
