Senior Associate Optical Engineer 1

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and test optical technologies and systems.
• Specify, select, and qualify active and passive optical components.
• Develop and benchmark system performance models.
• Develop and implement test procedures and select appropriate test instrumentation.
• Resolve technical issues associated with components, parts, products, or systems.
• Document engineering changes through a formal notification process.
• Perform quantitative analysis to determine root causes of technical problems and implement corrective actions.
• Operate airborne sensors from a workstation to collect EO/IR data during field missions.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering, physics, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience working with optical systems.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
• Experience with optical design codes such as Zemax or Code V.
• Experience with mathematical analysis codes such as Matlab, Mathematica, or MathCad.
• Knowledge of Optical Metrology including interferometers, image quality metrics, alignment, and test techniques.
• Knowledge of Optical Engineering areas working with resolved and unresolved objects in EO-LW wavelengths.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
