Scientist, Optical Systems Engineering

What you'll do

• Apply optical communications and electrical engineering principles to hardware development.
• Develop and analyze system requirements for free-space optical communication links and ground terminals.
• Run performance models including link budgets and pointing, acquisition, and tracking simulations.
• Integrate optical terminals into satellite architectures with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Oversee space hardware development, testing activities, and defect resolution.
• Manage system and component requirements using tools such as DOORS or Jama.
• Manage subcontractors by authoring Statements of Work and ensuring program compliance.
• Lead technical teams to deliver hardware on schedule and within scope.

What we're looking for

• Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a required DoD Secret security clearance.
• Must be able to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience in related fields.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Minimum of 16 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with optical design, integration, and test of optical assemblies.
• Experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with MATLAB, Zemax, Code V, or FRED software (preferred).
