What you'll do

Design and ship machine translation and LLM-based systems for global localization across various Apple Services.
Build and manage production serving, inference, and data pipelines optimized for latency, throughput, and cost.
Integrate ML models into existing service systems and APIs to meet specific business objectives.
Conduct applied research in LLM fine-tuning, model compression, RAG, and agentic workflows.
Develop evaluation infrastructure to measure translation quality and system performance metrics.
Communicate technical results, recommendations, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mentor engineers and contribute to technical excellence through publications or patents when applicable.

What we're looking for

BS/MS/PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or Physics.
5+ years of relevant experience in the field.
Proficiency in Python and strong software engineering fundamentals for production-quality code.
Hands-on experience with deep learning toolkits like JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Proven track record of training or deploying large models in production environments.
Experience building or operating large-scale, distributed production systems.
Deep understanding of Deep Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Preferred experience with machine translation, model optimization (quantization/distillation), and MLOps infrastructure.
