Software Engineer (L6), Compute Runtime

What you'll do

• Drive the Compute Runtime team's charter and guide engineering work on the hardest technical challenges.
• Own the Kubernetes data plane software, container runtime, and the underlying compute node operating system.
• Build and maintain scalable compute platforms that enable containers to run efficiently and reliably.
• Deliver compute platform capabilities and drive adoption across the company with a focus on engineering excellence.
• Set the example for operational excellence by improving incident response and on-call practices.
• Research and incorporate industry trends for new architectures, features, and off-the-shelf services.
• Architect and implement large-scale distributed systems capable of supporting over 100 million users.
• Manage cross-functional projects and break down complex problems in ambiguous technical areas.

What we're looking for

• Proven track record of architecting and implementing large-scale distributed systems at 100M+ user scale (preferred).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong relationship-building ability (preferred).
• Passion for technology and the ability to break down complex problems in ambiguous areas (preferred).
• Demonstrated technical leadership to empower teams and manage diverse stakeholders (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and abstracting its complexities (preferred).
• Experience with Golang, Java, and/or Python (preferred).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively (preferred).
