As a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer, you will join the Structural Analysis team to ensure product integrity and performance across sea, ground, air, and space domains. You will perform static and dynamic structural analyses using first principles, including hand calculations, spreadsheets, scripts, and detailed finite element analysis. Your daily responsibilities involve developing and owning FEM creation at global and subsystem levels, collaborating with hardware engineers to drive designs based on analytical results, and conducting validation testing involving instrumentation setup and data collection. You will utilize tools such as NASTRAN or Abaqus for linear and non-linear analyses, CAD software like NX or Solidworks, and Matlab or Python for automation and modeling. The role focuses on solving complex engineering challenges by ensuring designs meet specific customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations across diverse environments.
Perform static and dynamic structural analyses across sea, ground, air, and space domains using first principles and FEA.
Develop and manage FEM models at both the global and subsystem levels.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to drive design improvements based on analytical results.
Conduct validation testing including instrumentation setup, data collection, and model correlation.
Document analysis methodologies and results in technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure all designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Develop automation tools and scripts using Matlab or Python for data acquisition and modeling.
What we're looking for
BS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures.
Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties.
Proficiency in FEA software for linear and non-linear static, dynamic, and buckling analyses (NASTRAN/Abaqus preferred).
Experience with CAD tools such as NX or Solidworks.
Proficiency in Matlab or Python for developing analytical models, data acquisition, and automation.
Ability to work autonomously and organize requirements for ill-defined problems.
8+ years of experience in a structures, dynamics, or loads related role (preferred).
MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures (preferred); ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Top Secret clearance (preferred).
