Senior Software Engineer, Tactical Networking

What you'll do

• Implement Layer 3 networking for DDIL environments including VPN management, dynamic routing, and multi-path failover.
• Build radio integration layers to abstract diverse tactical waveforms into a unified networking interface.
• Design QoS scheduling and traffic shaping to maintain mission-critical data flows under bandwidth constraints.
• Develop network management systems for real-time topology configuration and automated adaptation.
• Architect PKI infrastructure for the Lattice mesh including certificate issuance, rotation, and revocation.
• Implement zero-trust identity verification across all communication paths within the mesh.
• Build observability tools using Prometheus, Grafana, and eBPF to monitor link health and certificate status.
• Debug complex networking issues from packet captures on deployed assets through cloud infrastructure.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a systems programming language such as Rust, C, C++, or Go.
• Strong understanding of Layer 3 networking including IP routing, tunneling (WireGuard, IPsec), and socket programming.
• Experience building distributed or networked systems like SDN/SD-WANs, VPNs, or network control planes.
• Understanding of cryptographic fundamentals such as symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and TLS.
• Experience designing or operating PKI systems including certificate authorities and automated issuance protocols.
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming models and network debugging tools like tcpdump and Wireshark.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
