What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and support the services, frameworks, and APIs that iCloud service teams build against.
  • Define and version interfaces for other teams and own the migration paths for all changes.
  • Drive end-to-end project execution from initial design reviews through to production releases.
  • Deploy, scale, and maintain highly concurrent and throughput-intensive distributed services.
  • Triage, investigate, and remediate production and operational issues.
  • Build documentation, samples, and self-service onboarding to make the platform easy for other teams to adopt.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of industry experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Deep working experience with programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Expertise in programming in concurrent and multi-threaded environments.
  • Experience building platform software that other engineering teams depend on, including API design, versioning, and migration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Strong background in functional programming with Scala, OCaml, or a typed functional style (preferred).
  • Strong background in event streaming, e.g., Kafka (preferred).
  • Experience with KV data stores, AWS, GCP, and cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes or gRPC (preferred).
