The Senior Security Site Reliability Engineer - Apple Service Engineering joins the ASE Security SRE team to operate and mature critical services spanning identity, token issuance, and access management. You will contribute from design and planning through production operation, defining operational practices and driving observability improvements. The role requires expertise in distributed, stateful systems, networking, storage, and performance at scale. Key technologies and skills include Golang or Swift, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and securing RESTful and gRPC APIs. You must understand authentication protocols like OAuth and JWT, as well as policy-based authorization engines like Open Policy Agent or Zanzibar.

What you'll do

Partner with development teams on service design, capacity planning, and operational readiness before launch.
Own or co-own SLOs, error budgets, and incident response for identity and access management services.
Participate in on-call rotations for supported services alongside the development team.
Drive reliability and observability improvements as a standard part of the engineering workflow.
Represent operational health in planning and review forums for the assigned service area.
Manage the security posture and operational quality of distributed, stateful systems at scale.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
Advanced degree (preferred).
7+ years in a Site Reliability Engineering or infrastructure focused role.
Strong working experience in at least one of: Golang or Swift.
Deep experience with distributed, stateful systems operating at high scale and high availability.
Strong understanding of networking, storage, and performance at scale.
Experience running Tier 1 services with 24/7 support expectations.
Knowledge of securing APIs, including authentication and authorization mechanisms for RESTful and gRPC APIs.
Understanding of authentication protocols such as OAuth and JWT.
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration at scale (preferred).
Experience with authentication, authorization, or cryptographic systems (preferred).
Strong grasp of SRE principles including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, and fault analysis (preferred).
Experience partnering directly with product or platform engineering teams on reliability (preferred).
Knowledge of policy-based authorization engines such as Open Policy Agent or Zanzibar (preferred).
