TL;DR · Senior Scientist I/II, Medical Image Analysis

The Senior Scientist I/II, Medical Image Analysis joins the Image Analysis team within the Translational Sciences group of Neuroscience Discovery Research. This role involves quantifying preclinical and clinical PET and MRI data to support therapeutic programs for neurodegeneration, movement disorders, psychiatry, and migraine. Key responsibilities include applying PET compartmental and graphical kinetic models, quantifying structural, diffusion, and functional MRI data, and developing Python-based image processing pipelines. The successful candidate will curate imaging data, provide technical oversight to CROs, and contribute to regulatory documents. Required skills include proficiency in Python, MATLAB, R, or C/C++, along with Linux, FSL, FreeSurfer, SPM, ANTs, or PMOD. The work focuses on identifying biomarkers and translational endpoints through novel PET radioligand development and imaging methods in drug discovery.

What you'll do

  • Quantify and interpret preclinical and clinical PET and MR imaging data.
  • Apply PET compartmental and graphical kinetic models to characterize novel radioligands and assess target engagement.
  • Quantify structural, diffusion, and functional MRI data.
  • Develop, validate, and document Python-based image processing pipelines and novel methodologies.
  • Curate and quality control imaging data while administering the group's data platforms.
  • Provide technical input on endpoint selection, study design, and imaging implementation in trials.
  • Provide technical oversight for analyses executed by external imaging CROs.
  • Communicate results through study reports, regulatory documents, and peer-reviewed publications.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10–12 years of experience; a master’s with 8–10 years; or a PhD with 0–4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in the quantitative analysis of PET and/or MR imaging data.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming with Python and strong Linux skills.
  • Working knowledge of analysis tools such as FSL, FreeSurfer, SPM, ANTs, or PMOD and PACS/DICOM.
  • Good publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in PET kinetic modeling, receptor occupancy studies, and preclinical rodent or NHP imaging (preferred).
  • Experience with production image processing pipelines using Git, containerization, and HPC or cloud (preferred).
