As a Senior Robotics Software Engineer, Behaviors on the Maneuver Dominance team, you will develop and maintain code that controls high-level robotic behavior for multi-asset autonomy. You will design and implement behavior trees and state machines to orchestrate teams of robots, ensuring seamless interaction between autonomous systems and peripherals like sensors, flight controllers, and radios. The role involves solving complex problems in networking, autonomy, and systems integration while making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs. To succeed, you must possess proficiency in C++ and Rust, along with experience in behavior tree frameworks and multi-agent coordination. You will work across the full software lifecycle, from prototyping to field deployment, to solve challenges in coordinating networked autonomous platforms. The role requires expertise in robotics, motion planning, perception, localization, and potentially Python or real-time operating systems within a defense technology context.
Design and implement behavior trees and state machines to control high-level behaviors for teams of robots.
Write software integrations to connect autonomy stacks with hardware peripherals like sensors, flight controllers, and radios.
Develop software that coordinates multiple autonomous platforms to achieve complex mission outcomes across a network.
Solve technical problems involving networking, autonomy, and systems integration while making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs.
Participate in the full software lifecycle including prototyping, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Analyze and resolve issues in deployed systems to ensure reliability and operational success.
Travel up to 25% of the time to test, debug, and deploy systems in operational environments.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
At least 6+ years of experience developing production-grade software in C++ and/or Rust.
Experience designing and implementing behavior trees, state machines, or comparable frameworks for orchestrating high-level robotic behavior.
Proven ability to write software integrations between autonomy stacks and robotic peripherals like sensors, flight controllers, and radios.
Strong systems-level knowledge and the ability to navigate complex, established codebases.
Must be eligible for a US security clearance.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to test and deploy systems.
Experience with motion planning, perception, localization, multi-agent coordination (preferred); familiarity with open-source behavior tree libraries or SIL simulation (preferred).
