The Senior Principal Engineer, Hardware Engineering - AI Server Systems joins the AI Platforms and Rack Scale Infrastructure team to architect and develop next-generation AI server and rack-scale platforms. This role involves leading hardware design and system engineering activities, driving root cause analysis for complex hardware and firmware integration challenges, and translating business requirements into scalable hardware solutions. You will collaborate with electrical, firmware, mechanical, thermal, power, and manufacturing teams, as well as GPU partners and original design manufacturers. Key responsibilities include managing the product lifecycle from research to manufacturing readiness while balancing mechanical, power, and thermal requirements. The role requires expertise in server architecture, system integration, and high-performance computing to solve complex systems challenges for advanced AI workloads and large-scale data center infrastructure.

What we're looking for
12+ years of hardware engineering experience or equivalent skill with a track record of delivering complex server and platform solutions.
Experience in hardware design and integration of server enclosures, including processing, storage, and I/O subsystems.
Ability to balance mechanical, power, and thermal requirements during hardware design and integration.
Prior background in leading cross-functional engineering teams through architecture, design, validation, and issue resolution.
Strong knowledge of server architecture, system integration, and root cause analysis of complex hardware and system-level issues.
Proven ability to collaborate and influence global engineering teams, original design manufacturers, and manufacturing organizations.
Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
Experience developing AI, high-performance computing, or large-scale data center platforms (preferred).
