TL;DR · Senior Mechanical Engineer, Advanced Targeting & Sensing Systems

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Connected Warfare team, you will lead the full mechanical design lifecycle for rugged, mission-critical hardware in an advanced targeting and sensing system already in production. This role involves assessing existing architecture, documenting tribal knowledge, driving design evolution based on operational feedback, and ensuring robust integration across complex subsystems like LiDAR and weapon mounts. You will own the CAD-to-prototype pipeline, manage engineering documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate product capabilities. The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 5+ years of professional experience, proficiency in CAD software, hands-on prototyping skills, and experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools. Knowledge of defense systems and small arms design is preferred, as well as familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining and injection molding.

What you'll do

  • Lead the full mechanical design lifecycle for mission-critical hardware.
  • Drive design evolution and innovation based on operational feedback.
  • Own the CAD-to-prototype pipeline, including fabrication and testing.
  • Ensure robust integration of complex subsystems in extreme environments.
  • Serve as mechanical authority for product quality and corrective actions.
  • Manage all engineering documentation and oversee change management processes.

What we're looking for

  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience with design ownership.
  • Strong skills in mechanical design, tolerance analysis, and materials selection.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience with CAD software proficiency.
  • Experience managing a Bill of Materials (BOM) within PLM tools.
  • Expertise in complex root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
  • Self-starter capable of identifying problems and executing solutions independently.
